Our Approach

To stand out from the crowd, you need to be yourself.  At 7L Associates we don’t want to take the You out of your application.  We believe your unique fingerprints are an asset.  To that end, we take extra care to make sure you come out in your application.  So our advisors provide top notch advice on your candidacy and positioning and the strategic aspects of the application.

On the other hand, we take great care in ensuring your greatness emerges.  What this means is we don’t write candidate essays.  Applications committees don’t like it and it goes against our principles.

We will continue to provide sound advice and feedback on topics and outlines, but not prose.  In some ways your writing style is like your fingerprint.  Like your personality it should be you, some generic, factory version that admissions committees see too many of.  That’s how you can stand out.

We feel similarly about the interviews.  It is important to maintain a balance between professionalism and projecting your personality during those interviews.  Too much coaching leads to cookie cutter answers and a cookie cutter candidate.  Business schools have become wary of this trend.  That is why Wharton and Michigan have begun implementing group interviews.  They want candidates true personalities to emerge.
